Husband Meme...

Husband Meme
What's his name? On here he is usually hubby or DH. He calls himself DAH. I usually call him lover.

How long have you been together? I have known him for12 years, but we started dating 11 years ago.

How long did you date? We dated for 3 months and then got engaged.

How old is he? 35

Who eats more? He does, unless it is sugar, then it is me.

Who said I love you first? I actually don't remember when we told each other we loved each other. How sad is that!

Who is taller? Him.

Who is smarter? We are smart in different areas, which is great because we can cover just about any subject that way.

Who does laundry? I wash it. I don't like him to do it because then I don't feel like I am doing my job. He folds it most of the time though, and he does most of the ironing these days.
Who does the dishes? I am supposed to do them after lunch (the breakfast and lunch dishes) and he is supposed to do them after dinner. A lot of times he gets to do them all because it is hard to do the dishes with one hand. So if the baby is fussy, I don't get them done.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do here because it is closer to the girls' rooms. It switches wherever we live.

Who pays the bills? I have always done it, he helps with it once in awhile though. He has enough to do with just paying all of his parent's bills.
Who mows the lawn? He does. I have only mowed the lawn once since we got married and it was 10 years ago.

Who cooks dinner? I do.

Who drives when you are together? He does.

Who is more stubborn? I am more stubborn, but he is stubborn when it comes to some things.

Who kissed who first? He kissed me first....it was perfect.

Who asked out who first? He asked me out first.

Who proposed? He did, on the steps of the capital building while we were gazing at the temple after a dance.

Who has more siblings? Him. He had 6 siblings, but one died as an infant.
Who wears the pants in the family? Well I have never seen him in a skirt! We both try to do things equally and together.

How did you meet? We met in an institute class in college.

Well that is all the memes I am going to do for awhile. I hope you enjoyed them a little bit.

Yet another Meme...

What were you doing ten years ago? We were living in a two bedroom apartment. I didn't have a job so I spent all of my time cooking, cleaning and going to the library.

5 Things on my "to-do" list today... go visiting teaching, fold laundry, wash laundry, do pre-school with A, clean the kitchen.

6 Snacks that I enjoy...popcorn, hot chocolate, icecream, fruit snacks, apple cider, and cookies.

3 Bad Habits...I am a procrastinator, I love to dream up a project and buy the stuff for it, but then my ambition fizzles and I often don't get the project done, I'm a hypocrite.

If I were suddenly a billionaire I would...buy a beautiful 1 acre lot and build my dream home, buy new vehicles, put away money for my children's educations, take the whole family on a fun vacation, and put the rest into savings for a rainy day.

5 Places I've Lived...I would rather not say where I have lived, but I have lived in almost every corner of this state.

5 Jobs I've Had..Custard scoopee, children's museum floor manager, manager of the fabrics and notions portion of a store, janitress, and selling vinyl lettering.

5 Things People Don't Know About Me...I am addicted to utahrealestate.com, I have donated my hair to Locks of Love 3 times (and will do it again within this year sometime), I absolutely can't stand watching the news, I can't listen to talk radio either, when I am alone in the car I still crank the music up like I am a teenager.

Only one more day of memes, aren't you glad?

60 Questions Meme...

A few things I should do more often...

I have taken notice of a few things that I should really do more often. I often get so caught up in the all the business of life that I miss out on a few of life's little pleasures. So here are a few things I have thought of lately:

Laying down on my bed in the middle of the day. I layed down on my bed and talked to my husband the other day while he was changing out of his work clothes. It was so nice and relaxing. I never lay down in the daytime. I should do that more often.

Scrapbook. I went to my parent's house last week and ended up scrapbooking 24 pages. I had a hard time getting going because I hadn't scrapbooked for so long. I need to keep those creative juices flowing better.

Get together with a good friend and chat. Yesterday I had lunch with Suzanne from A Rose By Any Other Name. It was so fun to just sit and talk while the kids played.

Putting lotion on my feet. I once knew someone that would wash their feet everyday before bed and put lotion on her feet. I have never been that dedicated to my poor feet. I am extremely bad at putting lotion on my feet. They always feel so soft and nice when I do, but I rarely find the time.

Petting my dog. My dog has been really sick lately. I have realized that I should spend more time loving her. It is a good stress relief to sit and stroke her soft fur.(As long as she isn't stinky!)

Sitting in the sunshine. I know this really is not something I should do because of skin cancer, but I love to sit in the sunshine.

Stop to look at the flowers. We have beautiful flowers in our yard. We already have daffodils, crocus, pask flowers, mini-iris, and pansies blooming. I often forget they are out there and never go look at them. I need to take more time to smell the flowers.

Play in the sand. Nothing makes you feel like a kid more than playing and building things in the sand. It is so fun.

What are some of the things you should do more often?

Christmas Meme...

UTMOMMY and SUZANNE recently did this meme on their blogs. I thought it looked like a fun one so I decided to try it to. Here goes:
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I love them both. They are two of my favorite beverages. I just saw an ad in a magazine that had a picture of egg nog in a can...can you really buy the stuff in a can? I need to start a year's supply if they do.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree? It depends on if they are easily wrapped. Mostly he wraps them, this year the toys are not getting wrapped, but everything else is.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Definately white...my hubby loves the colored though, so maybe we will have to do that sometime.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Yes. It is in the archway to my living room, and on the wall by it is a little quilt sampler that says, "Kisses under the Mistletoad" with a frog on it. (Rather fitting don't you think?)

5. When do you put your decorations up? We took all the fall decorations down the day after Thanksgiving and cleaned the entire house and then decorated for Christmas that night. We were going to waith until Saturday, but the kids were too excited. I will be sick of them before Christmas is over though. And for some reason, I wasn't all that excited to put them up this year. I didn't even put out a lot of things I usually do.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I LOVE finger foods....crackers and cheese, artichoke dip, cheeseballs, little smokies, sliced meat, olives, cut up fruit with creamy fruit dip, etc. Yum Yum Yum!! Maybe I will have to serve that for dinner tonight!

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: I remember one Christmas (I don't remember how old I was) and we came out Christmas morning to open presents and there was a row of stuffed animals (one for each of the kids) lined up by the tree. I remember a Christmas when I was a teenager when my Dad surprised me with a pair of Girbaud shorts. I jumped up and down screaming I was so excited. (I would do the same thing today if I could fit back into them!)

8. How and When did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't remember how old I was, but I learned it from my neighbor Angie. I don't remember being sad about it. I just thought, "Oh."

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? My family never did growing up, but my husband's family always got new pajamas, so we have started doing that with out kids, except for this year (since they didn't need pajamas) we bought them all snow pants instead.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? We have 2 trees. One is an artificial full-size tree with white lights, gold, burgundy, and ivory decorations. We have a small artificial "kid" tree with colored lights that has my kid's ornaments and the ornaments I got when I was a child on it.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I seem to dread it more and more the older I get. I am perfectly happy inside watching it snow, but I would rather not have to be in it. Sledding with the family is pretty fun though.

12. Can you ice skate? Yes...I can even go backwards. Don't ask me to do any jumping though.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Mine would have to be a Barbie that my husband gave me in 1999. His sisters had been going through all their Barbie stuff and it had made me sad. I had given away (stupid, stupid, stupid!) all of my Barbie things when I thought I was too "old" for them, and I have regretted it ever since. My hubby's sisters even had a Barbie that I had when I was little. It made me miss them even more, so that Christmas my hubby bought a Barbie for me because he knew I was sad about mine (we didn't even have any kids at the time). It was very sweet.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Remembering the birth of my Savior, and spending time with family.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? My homemade orange and raspberry sticks, which I am not going to make this year. I will miss them.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I have two.
One is from when I was little. My mom made a little nativity scene with stuffed people. There was a wooden manger under baby Jesus, and everytime we did a good deed we got to put a piece of straw under baby Jesus. It is something I would like to start doing with my own kids. My other favorite is from my husband's family. When him and his 5 brothers and sisters got to be a little older and were waking up too early in the morning to find out what "Santa" brought his parents came up with a little plan to keep them in their rooms longer. His parents set up booby traps all down the hall to try to keep the kids in bed...we are talking major traps here! They would tie yarn all around their bedrooms with bells on it so they couldn't even get out of their beds without making a lot of noise. They taped wrapping paper over the end of the hall, rigged up marbles so when a door was opened they would fall into a metal bowl. They did all kinds of things. They said they would stay up laughing their heads off trying to think of new booby traps. I think most of the kids enjoyed trying to get out of their rooms as much as they did the Christmas presents. The kids would even gather up supplies the night before....scissors for cutting string, a flashlight, candy (in case they were hungry), a cup (in case they couldn't get out to go to the bathroom). It is so funny to hear my hubby tell all the stories. I would like to try that with our kids, the only problem is that our bedroom is at the end of the hallway.

17. What tops your tree? A gold statue of Moroni...what better topper is there than that!

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? I actually prefer receiving (I know I am just a big kid!). I do love giving things to people that I have made though.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Silent Night, and I can't think of the names of any others (I never know the names of songs!).

20. What is your favorite Christmas story? The story of the birth of Christ of course, but I have always loved the story of the Match Girl. I remember listening to it on a record when I was a kid. I wonder if my parents still have it.

Well there are some of my Christmas memories. I would love to read yours, so let me know if you decide to do this meme as well.

Four Word Meme

I just realized that my last post was a meme too, hope you aren't tired of them yet. Lei at My Many Colored Days tagged me to do a four word meme. These are the words she gave me: Classic, Forge, Home, and Charity.

Classic. This word always reminds me of Stephanie from For Better or For Worse. It was a word that her and her husband use to use a lot when they were first married. I don't know if they still do, but it still reminds me of them. There was also a place that I went roller skating when I was a kid called Classic Rollerskating. I think the only time I really went their was for parties for school or friends birthdays. I remember once there was a father daughter party there. My friend, Angie's, dad couldn't go so my dad took her and I. We had a great time skating around with my dad.

Forge. The first thing I thought of when I heard this word was Valley Forge...I don't know why. Then I thought of the word as an action, something that I do in my own life....I am constantly forging ahead. It means to move forward steadily, and that is what I am always trying to do. And then (I hate to admit this)I thought of a few times when I was in elementary school and needed a progress report or something signed, and my parents had already gone to work, so I forged their signatures by using a receipt they had gotten from purchasing gas....oh the shame...can you forgive me mom and dad?

Home. I love my home more and more all the time. When we first moved here I didn't plan on it being my resting spot, but it has become that...at least for a long time. My husband and I have been remodeling things around our house, and every new project just makes it seem more and more like my home. I have fond memories of my home when I was a child, and I often think about the memories that my kids will take of their home when they leave it someday. Will they remember the holiday traditions and decorations, the colors of the flowers in our yard, the smells from our kitchen, the way it felt to walk in the door after school was out. I hope I am making a happy home for my kids, and that they will have happy memories of it when they get older.

Charity. The pure love of Christ. I am not sure I have much charity. I often grumble when asked to do something. This is something that I am forging ahead on. My neighbor is a great example of charity for me. She is always doing something for someone else (including me). I always think of her when I hear the word charity.

Well those are my thoughts. Now it is time to make some lunch for my kids....I am tired of lunch. What do you feed your family for lunch everyday? I am tired of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, and macaroni and cheese.

Halloween Meme

My dear sweet sister tagged me to do this fun meme for halloween, so here goes:

1.What's the scariest movie you've ever seen? I really am not a fan of scary movies, so the scariest one I have ever seen was probably the Sixth Sense. I screamed out loud when that little girl pops up throwing up. I can't even think of another scary movie I have seen. I went to a birthday party when I was younger and they were watching Poltergeist (sp?), and I didn't want to watch it so I spent the whole evening upstairs playing Barbies by myself.

2. What was your favorite Halloween Costume from childhood, and adulthood? The only one I can remember from when I was a kid was a Raggedy Ann costume. It was made of plastic and had one of those plastic masks with the elastic string that goes around your head, and it had a matted bright red wig. I dressed up like one of the 12 dancing princesses when I was in college...that was fun. Last year I dressed up as a witch, but I usually don't dress up on Halloween.

3. If you had an unlimited budget, what would your Fantasy Costume be for this Halloween? Some sort of a fancy queen/princess outfit from the victorian era I guess.

4.When was the last time you went Trick Or Treating? I took the girls out last year....this year I am making DH go instead.

5.What is your favorite Halloween treat? I love candy corn and those little pumkins that come in the holiday mix. My favorite trick-or-treating type candy would have to be the little yellow boxes of Dots. I love them...my DH even scored me a box at his work today and brought them home for me.

6. Tell us about a scary nightmare you had. When I was about five I had a dream that I was on a giant waterbed (you couldn't see the edges). There was a baby deer on the waterbed, and our mean neighbor girl was chasing it with a big butcher knife trying to kill it, and I was trying to save it. The neighbor girl kept falling and stabbing holes into the water bed and water would start squirting everywhere. I woke up screaming and my mom came in and comforted me and gave me a glass of water and a piece of sliced cheese...the weird things you remember huh?

7. What is your Supernatural Fear? My husband and I recently watched some show about ghosts and about this possessed house...it spooked me!

8. What is your Creepy-Crawlie Fear? I hate spiders! They give me the creeps even if I see them coming first. I hate killing them because I am always afraid they will get away and land on me.

9. Tell us about a time when you saw a ghost, or heard something go Bump in the night. I've never seen a ghost. I did feel something go bump in the night once. I woke one night for some reason, and rolled over, and a big heavy hand landed right on my face. I about flew out of my bed! Then I realized it was my own hand! I had fallen asleep with my arms somehow above my head, and they had fallen asleep, so I couldn't even feel that it was mine!

10. Would you ever stay in a real Haunted House overnight?
It depends on if their were large sums of money at stake. I might in that case, but I don't think I would sleep all night!

11. Are you a traditionalist (just a face) Jack O'Lantern Carver, or do you get really creative with your pumpkins? I tend to be a Traditionalist, but I have always wanted to try something different and new. I might spell B O O on some this year since we have a bunch of little ones.

12. How much do you decorate your home for Halloween? I decorate more for Fall than for Halloween. I have pumpkins and leaves in one form or another over most of my house, and I love gourds. I don't like all the spooky stuff for Halloween, so most of my Halloween stuff consists of jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows.

13. What do you want on your Tombstone? I would like to be cremated, and buried with my hubby, so we would probably end up sharing the same Tombstone, so I guess I would have something on their about our life together.

Well I am not sure who has not done this one yet, so If you are feeling up to it, take the challenge, and consider yourself tagged.

Itybtyfrog needs....

I have seen a few of these on other blogs, and I thought I would try it out. It was really funny! You google "Itybtyfrog needs" (insert your name instead of Itybtyfrog) and see what pops up. I actually did the search with my real name, not itybtyfrog. Here are my results....
Itybtyfrog needs a home where she can have food down all day for snacking (Oh yah! Baby…bring on the pretzels and cinnamon bears)

Itybtyfrog needs money to attend college (No kidding….I can’t believe how much tuition has gone up since I was in college)

Itybtyfrog needs to find support so she won't have to feel like she needs to flirt for attention or to be accepted (WHAT?)

Itybtyfrog needs to quit holding onto a dream (Sorry, no can do, I will always be a dreamer)

Itybtyfrog needs to scrap the turtleneck (This is funny because I can’t stand turtlenecks)

Itybtyfrog needs your help & support (Doesn’t everyone?)

Itybtyfrog needs to work up a schedule (I am currently working up a schedule to work up a schedule)

Itybtyfrog needs behavioral counseling, anger management, and FOR SURE someone she can talk with. (I could probably use all of those!)

Itybtyfrog needs to be there and everyone else is encouraged to attend. (Yes this is how my life goes….I HAVE to be there, and it is just optional for everyone else!)

Itybtyfrog needs a family that can offer her consistency, structure, an abundance of love and nurturing and clear rules and expectations. (Wouldn’t that be great!)

Itybtyfrog needs volunteers. (Volunteers to clean the bathroom. Volunteers to do the laundry. Sure I could use a few of those.)

Itybtyfrog needs to get her life together (Probably)

Itybtyfrog needs a quiet home (Wouldn’t that be nice occasionally?)

Itybtyfrog needs to buy a copy machine (I already have one and I LOVE it!)

Itybtyfrog needs help, although in the long run she's going to have to figure it out for herself. (In the end, don’t we all?)

Itybtyfrog needs suggestions (Always looking for some good ones)

Itybtyfrog needs the light (This is SO true….I have to open all my windows everyday…I can’t stand a gloomy dark house.)

Itybtyfrog needs to improve her social skills (Yes, I must admit, I am a bit of a wall flower.)

Itybtyfrog absolutely needs to call the police (Whatever for?)

Give it a try, and see what you need.

MMMMMMMMM....

Stephanie did a fun thing on her blog today. She took a letter and came up with 10 things that started with the letter and told why she came up with those things. She had some cute and funny things on her blog. She assigned me the letter M. So here are the ten things I thought of that start with that letter:
1. M******, my 5-year old. Hers is not one of the weird names Stephanie mentioned! She is such a great kid. She saves me so many times. She is a wonderful big sister and such a great help around the house. She is always willing to do what I ask her to do, and she is so creative and fun. I am lucky to be her mom.

2. Model homes. I love to tour model homes. I once thought about being a real estate agent because I love to look at homes so much, but I decided I didn't want to sell houses, just LOOK at them. A friend and I toured some yesterday. Here are a few fun shots I took while we were there.

3. Money. Okay, love of money is the root of all evil right, but it sure is fun!!! Could use a truck load at my house.
4. Melancholy. I discovered this word in college. Unfortunately, it sometimes describes my mood.
5. Mother-In-Law. My MIL is coming today, so I should really be cleaning the house and changing the sheets on her bed. I guess I will have to switch into hyper-speed after this post so I can get it all done.
6. Mushrooms. Weird little things, but so tasty. I am frying some up tonight for dinner. I fry them in butter until they are crisp and add some garlic salt and parsley (to add a little color to the drab little things). They are delicious!
7. Marla. She is the greatest friend. She lives across the street from me and I think we talk about twice a day. She keeps me sane, and inspires me to be better. Not to mention all the fun we have laughing together!
8. Marmoset. I am not sure what one of these looks like, but my husband saw one at his work yesterday, so the word was fresh in my mind.
9. "Mom". Never thought I would get tired of hearing that word, but somedays I have had enough...."MOM", "MOM!!", "MOM!!!!"
10. Mormon. Yup I am a Mormon, and pretty dang proud of it in a non-prideful sort of way. I know my life would not be so amazingly great without the gospel.
So there are my M's. If anyone is interested in doing this same thing, let me know and I will assign you a letter. Posted by Picasa

The Game of Tag

I went on vacation over Easter, so I missed the game of tag. I am trying to catch up now. I hope that since I was tagged by two people that I don't have to do 12!!! I had a hard time coming up with 6...I guess that is because I am perfectly abnormal, so I don't always think of the things I do as weird!!! Of course they are probably weird to others.

Here goes....

1. I love chickens. Ever since I met my in-laws chickens I have been hooked. We have had about two dozen of our own, but we don't have any right now....we are looking for a way to get around those city codes....Here is a picture I took this weekend of my in-laws chicken...isn't it cute!

2. I hate water on my face. I will never be a good swimmer because I can't stick my face in the water. I can't even stand water on my face in the shower. I tolerate it long enough to wash my face and that is it. My 5-year old is just like me.
3. My neck bends backwards. The exact term is "Reversal of the Cervical Lordosis". It has caused me horrible kinked necks and dizziness for years. Thanks to Dr. Kyle I am doing much better these days.
4. I am a library junky. I love the library. At any given moment I have 10 books on hold, and have my limit of 30 books checked out. (I have even had more than the limited 30 checked out, but don't tell the librarians!!!) I take my girls there once a week to get new books.
5. I hate boogers and noses. Seriously they make me ill. I about gag if one of my kids has their finger up their nose. My husband says I have the cleanest nose in the world. I can't stand anyone to touch my nose either, it drives me crazy.
6. I collect house plans. I love them. I have a 2 inch thick folder full of house plans. I could sit and look at them for hours...ask my DH...it drives him nuts.

Well there are a few weird things about me. I would tag some more people, but most of my blogging friends have already been tagged. Posted by Picasa
