Our Yard July 2011

4th of July Breakfast.

 We had a yummy breakfast for the 4th of July.  Waffles with whipped cream, blueberries, and strawberries.  We had fun decorating them like flags.

A donates her hair...

 A wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love.  It is a company that makes wigs for children that have lost their hair through cancer, and other medical problems.

Her hair was so long.  She looked really cute with her new hair cut though, but I forgot to take an after picture.  :(

Duck pond with friends...

 There is a fun little duck pond by our house.  We decided to go for a little picnic with some friends.

 The girls had lots of fun playing with their friends and feeding the ducks.

 There were lots of ducks looking for free lunch.

 What a cute bunch of girls!

 There were lots of cute baby ducklings too.

It was a fun day out in the sun playing at the duck pond.

A's penguin project...

 A had to do a report about penguins for school.  She made this cute little box sith penguins and snowflakes.

Father's Day 2011

 We had fun celebrating father's day.  I made a special dinner for DH.  He loves lasagna, so I made that, and then I got creative with the breadsticks. There is a local restaurant that serves breadsticks twisted around sticks.  They are very yummy, so I thought I would try to make my own.

The breadsticks turned out pretty good! The kids all loved them. 

 We also had fancy lemon-limeade.

 We made a basket full of "POP" items for the world's best pop.

 The girls had maed them cards and gifts at school.

 My girls are so lucky to have such a wonderful dad, and I am pretty lucky to have him for my husband.

Decorating the big girl's room...

 After painting the girls rooms it was time for the fun stuff...decorating!  I hung this shelf on one side of the room.  The quilt and afghan are H's.  My Mom made them for her when she was a baby.

 This fun mirror I got from my in-laws and we painted it white to match the furniture.  This dresser was mine when I was a child.  It was brown then though.  I want to do something fun with the lamp (maybe purple lace ruffles???), and find some purple flowers to replace the pink ones.

The hardest thing for this room was figuring out what to do for the windows.  There is an arched window in this room that I wanted to cover up so it would be darker in the girl's room during the summer.  I found both of these fabrics on clearance and Joann's.  I was going to do the same color on the front and back, but there wasn't enough of the green on the bolt, so I got the purple to go with it.  I am so glad.  I love how they turned out.  And the curtains work great for blocking out the sun.  I still want to make them some bedspreads and cute pillows for their beds.  I have all the fabric, I just need to find the time!
