Playing dress-up

My hubby and I had to cut some boards, so we left the baby in the care of my 7 year old. When I came back a few minutes later. This is what I found:

She had dressed her up in a little dress up dress and was trying to put a crown on her head. You can see how much she enjoyed it!

Come to my online Open House...

I just did a vinyl lettering open house. You are now invited to my online Open house. Check it out here:

Did you think to pray?

This is my favorite item. The PRAY letters glow-in-the-dark, so if you forget to pray before hopping into bed at night you will have a little reminder glowing at you.

Wild Birds

We have had some interesting birds around our house. One day I was watching two wood peckers wander around our wooden fence poking around for bugs when these two peacocks came through our yard. Have you ever seen a completely white peacock? I had never seen such a thing. A few weeks later I was in my kitchen and looked out the window and there was a hawk sitting on the fence eating a little bird. I have never seen any of these birds this close up before. It has been kind of fun.

A new do....

My little K will be 3 in April. I figured it was about time for her first haircut. So yesterday I broke out the scissors and cut her hair, and just for fun, I cut A's hair too. Here are some pics....

Christmas Time MEME....

Suzanne from A Rose By Any Other Name had this MEME on her blog. I thought I would play along too.

Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly wrapping paper unless the present is an awkward shape and then I will use a bag.

Do you have a Nativity scene? Yes, we have a nativity scene that we purchased in Guatemala the year after we got married.

Do you like eggnog? I love eggnog, but I have to milk it down. I love that you can buy it at Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Favorite Christmas movie? The Santa Clause. We have a tradition that we sleep by the Christmas tree one night and we always watch the Santa Clause movie.

Mail or e-mail Christmas cards? Usually I will make homemade cards to mail, but this year we aren't sending any. :( I am sad because I really like making them.

Easiest person to buy for? Probably my kids, unless they change their minds!!

Real tree or artificial? Artificial tree. I hate the smell of pine.

Angel or star on the tree top? We have an angel Moroni on the top of our tree.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas gift? Yes, I am sure that I have.

Favorite Christmas song? Away in a Manger, and Silent Night. I absolutely hate the Little Drummer Boy song.

Do you travel at Christmas or stay home? We stopped traveling on Christmas day a few years ago. It was too hard to haul all of the Christmas presents for all the kids with us and still keep them hidden. Now we do our traveling after Christmas and over New Years.

White lights or colored on the tree? White...my hubby loves the colored, but I love the white. I guess I won that battle. :)

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My homemade orange and raspberry sticks, the Sant's chocolate balls, dips and crackers/chips, wassail, any finger foods, and hot chocolate ( but not this year....so sad!).

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes

When do you put up the tree? We usually do it the day after Thanksgiving, but my hubby was gone then, so we set it up the following Monday for FHE.

What is your favorite place to go at Christmas? I love to see the lights at Temple Square (as long as it is not too cold!)

Open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? We usually will have a present for the girls to open on Christmas Eve....usually it has been pajamas, but last year it was snow pants. This year we aren't having an extra present to open that night. Everything will be opened on Christmas morning.

What do you love most about Christmas? Making all the goodies, making things for other people, shopping, spending time with family, and most importantly, remembering the birth of the Savior and feeling that wonderful spirit throughout the whole month.

I would love to hear about your Christmas too if you want to participate in this MEME.

What would you do for a quarter?

My 7 year old daughter came home from school awhile ago with a quarter. I asked her where she got it and she told me that Stephen had given it to her. I asked her why. "He gave it to me so I would play with him." How sad is that? A kid paying my daughter to play with him. I guess he has a big crush on her (at least that is what his older brother told my hubby). I told her not to take the poor boy's money and to play with him anyway. It gave me a good laugh anyway....and made my daughter turn bright red. This might be her very first crush.

I'm a crafter....

I am a crafter. I love to make new things. It is rare that I don't have a project of some kind or another that I am working on. I am creating this new blog to showcase some of the fun things that I have made.

I also recently purchased a vinyl lettering machine to make fun things with, and wanted a place to show off the fun things I am making. Here are a few of the fun things I made for Halloween this year.

My 2 year old thoughts of her new sister...

My two year old is learning a lot about babies. She has never been around one before, so she thinks that her new little sister is fascinating. She asks the funniest questions and makes hilarious comments about the baby and what the baby is doing. Here are a few of my favorites: The night we brought H home from the hospital she had a total screaming fit (thanks to the super spicy shredded pork burrito they fed me in the hospital). My little two year old, K, pats me on the belly (you know the post delivery jelly belly that looks like you didn't just have a child) , and asks me, "Other H come out?" I told her that this was the only baby in mommy's belly, and asked her why she wanted another one. She told me, "This H too noisy." That may have been so, but you take what you get. Another day she came up and asked me if H was a boy. "No, H is a girl." I told her. She then grabbed some of H's hair and said, "Boy hair." I guess that is the only way that she thinks boys and girls are different. I told her it was just baby hair and that it would get longer just like hers and then she would look more like a girl. She is also fascinated with breast feeding, but I won't share those funny comments! I think she is finally getting accustomed to her new little sister. She loves it when the baby actually has her eyes open....loves it a little too much since I have caught her poking her in the eye. Hopefully H won't hold a grudge, and they will be good playmates someday.
