Playgroup and a few projects...

For the last two years I have been doing pre-school at home with my oldest daughter. To supplement her schooling I have been doing a monthly playgroup with the girls in our area that are her age. It has been so fun to have all the girls come over and see them build friendships. We did our last playgroup activity yesterday. We had a fancy dress-up picnic lunch. The girls all looked so adorable in their fluffy dress-up clothes. We read stories and made tissue paper flowers and they had tons of fun playing in our playroom. I will kind of miss doing playgroup. It has been so much fun. I get to start doing them in another year with my 2nd daughter though, so I won't miss it for long.

Here are a few projects I have completed lately. This is for my front door...

This is in my dining room...

This will go in my laundry room when we remodel it next summer. Can you tell I am excited about that already!

  2. What great project. I don't see how you have time to do all the things that you do. I just have a hard time getting to my laundry. lol Cute pic of the girls. Wished we lived close enough for pumpkin to join in.

what does it mean that you have been "doing preschool at home?" do you run a program for local kids?

  4. What a fun picnic! I wish I live closer, too. I would have even worn my fluffy dress ups! :)

I love your crafts, as usual! More vinyl letters, I assume? I've been looking for something new to put on my door, if I copy your idea, would that be breaking CopyWright law?

  5. Cute activity with the girls! Love that they, unlike boys, sit nicely for a pic! :)

  6. Kate: I do pre-school with my daughter only. I have set up a whole curriculum to teach my children pre-school. I thought at one time I could homeschool them, but I think pre-school will be the limit for me. It is so fun to do with them, but a lot of work.
Nettie: You may copy the idea....no copywrights around here! And yes, they are vinyl letters. If you want any, let me know and I can order you whatever you want from my neighbor and you can get it when you come out.

  10. They look so cute! And yay for a laundry room.

Answer: yes, Wonderwoman Underoos. I wrote a post about them a few weeks ago ("Wonderwoman Underoos, my special friend"). The story does not involve being forced to parade around in front of my family, however. How traumatic!

  11. it's fascinating to me that you are doing pre-school for your daughter on your own. if you ever want to share your ideas or curriculum, i'd love to here. did you ever worry about her not socializing enough since she's schooling alone or does she get other outlets for that?

  12. You are completely amazing. When I grow up, I want to be YOU. We did play group and I absolutely could not STAND it. I love my kids, and tolerate others after serving in various Primary callings, but play group? No way.

Where do you get the patterns for the projects? I'm thinking I need a front door letter, too.

  13. I think you have started a trend with the monogram on the front door. I want to do it too!

  14. Kate: I was worried about my daughter getting the social interaction she needs, and also learning how to take instruction from other people besides her mom. That is why I did playgroup. She also gets social interaction from church, and through dance lessons...these also give her the opportunity to learn from other sources. It has really worked out pretty well. I will be starting pre-school with my 3 year old this fall. I will post some of the things we are doing.
