WFMW: File Basket

I love the look of the baskets you can file your paperwork in, but they cost so much. So one day when I was going to get rid of this (because it has a broken handle):

an idea hit me to use it to file my paperwork in. It is great. It is just a picnic basket that I got for my wedding. It fits file folders in it perfectly. Anyone coming into my kitchen would never know what is in it.

  1. What a wonderful idea. I love to be able to recycle items, but my DH thinks that if it is broken then just throw it away.

  2. Cute idea! I had one just like it that my husband threw away when it got broken. Wedding gift at our house, too.

  3. I got a picnic basket for a wedding gift, too. Used it once (they are much more romantic in theory). After storing it and moving it multiple times I finally started using it as a sewing basket. I like your use of it better. My filing cabinet isn't convenient, so my "to file" drawer is always overflowing.

  10. Dang, I think I threw our picnic basket away too. :) It would have been perfect for my genealogy folders, which are now in a box (filing cabinet is full).

    Very cute idea!

  15. What a cute idea! You are very creative. I'm very jealous because I usually throw out the item and then realize what I could have done with it!

  17. I had one of those baskets once upon a time and it never dawned on me to use it for anything else. Probably why I got rid of it! :)
